Software Updates:
1. Version is changed to 2.2 from 2.1.
2. V2.2 template is introduced to support upcoming PESONA ELITE edition. This also introduces compatibility problems. When opening older version templates, you will be prompted to save using new version or to preserve old version.
If you choose to preserve old version, PESONA won’t save any changes (i.e.: the old version template stays “old”). It is advised to keep old version if you have installations using archive versions of PESONA that need to use shared templates. Otherwise, please upgrade.
3. Updated on how global data navigator works. Previously, when moving data sources (e.g.: previous or next), only data sources in use is affected. The definition of in-use, being the value is in the card design somewhere (either front or back of card). Now, all data sources are advanced in tandem, regardless of whether it is in use or not. This is to protect users from printing repeatedly with old data (e.g.: if user has 10 records but prints 20 cards. The last 10 cards will repetition of each other).
In this new version, printing will stop after 10 records, regardless of how many records user has specified through the print dialog record count box. The new behaviour may confuse users. If 2 data sources exist in the template and when one is at the last record position, the other data source will not move either. The data shown on screen will seem to be unresponsive to user input.
4. For database source, user can opt to not save data to template. Previously, all data from database is cached in the template file itself. For large databases, the template’s size becomes extremely big. Sometimes, this causes failure to load template with “Insufficient memory” message.
PESONA continues to cache data from delimited and excel file sources. Caching can be useful in situations where data is not local. In this case, templates with cached data can be sent via email to the print bureau for processing.
5. The Professional and Elite edition of PESONA supports grid view for database, excel and delimited file sources. User can now choose to see all rows from their data source in one spreadsheet. This feature is not available in Standard edition, even though it can support delimited file source.
6. User can now tap on space bar to toggle selection among overlapping objects. If a smaller object is overlapped by a larger object, you may have to move the larger object away to be able to click on the overlapped object. Now, clicking on space bar will automatically select any overlapped objects.
7. If you encounter any issues while printing with Zebra Performance Card Printers, please update printer’s driver from www.zebracard.com.
